When it comes to choosing classic, elegant wedding colours, you can’t go far wrong with a navy and silver theme. The bridesmaids

Opt for navy blue bridesmaids’ dresses and your girls will love you, as navy is a universally flattering shades that looks fabulous with all skin tones and hair colours. It’s less stark than black, which means it won’t look overbearing in longer lengths, and as a classic shade it’s easy to find in both high street stores and from dedicated bridesmaid designers. We recommend choosing your fabric based on the season you’re marrying; lighter chiffons work perfectly for spring or summer weddings, while satin textures are ideal for autumn and winter. Navy lace works for all seasons – just pop on a silver belt for some added bling!

The groom

Unlike some of the trickier colour combinations, it’s easy to find suits and waistcoats to match this groom-friendly colour scheme! Dark blue suits have become particularly popular recently, so you’ll have no problem finding one to match your scheme. Pair with a silver embroidered waistcoat for added flair, or stick to a plain navy three-piece and pop on a silver tie instead if he prefers. If blue suits aren’t his style, you can always swap the colours and opt for a classic silver-grey suit with a navy tie.

The bride

Now, unless you’re really keen we’re not suggesting you start hunting bridal boutiques for a navy blue wedding dress, but if your groom is in blue, you could opt for a simple navy sash teamed withsilver bridal accessories as a sweet nod to your theme. If you’re keen to keep the look of your dress more traditional, then opt for silver embellishment or beading to add a touch of metallic sparkle. If you’re marrying in the winter, then a silver pashmina or fur stole can also look simple yet elegant, as well as keeping you from literally turning blue!

The accessories

Who said your ‘something blue’ had to be pale? Jewellery or hair accessories with deep blue gemstones is a chic take on this bridal tradition, and will match perfectly with a navy and silver wedding theme. Try Glitzy Secrets’ Blooms of Navy Hair Combs or Moonlight Shimmer range for gorgeous navy blue hair accessories – they make fantastic presents for bridesmaids, too.

The décor

There are plenty of ways you can approach navy and silver wedding decorations, depending on your style as a couple. If you love glitz and glam, then play up the metallic aspects of your theme with plenty of glitter and sparkles. Opt for silver glitter accents on your stationery and place cards, and liberally sprinkle silver crystals or table confetti amongst the mercury glass tea light holders on your tables.

If you prefer sleek and simple décor, then choose navy satin ribbons as your stationery accents, and keep your tables more minimal with navy napkins on white linen table cloths, silver-accented glassware and classic ivory floral centrepieces.

A more boho take on the silver and navy combination is that of a ‘starry night’ theme, which can look absolutely stunning. Simply include starry imagery as part of your stationery and table décor (perhaps name your tables after constellations?) and have your guests throw silver star confetti instead of petals after the ceremony. Don’t forget plenty of fairy lights, too!
