Many brides choose to give their bridesmaids bouquets that are smaller versions of their own, which is always guaranteed to look fabulous. Not only does it keep your order with the florist simpler, matching bouquets look cohesive and have a great impact in photos. If you want to make the bridal bouquet stand out a little more, why not add a coloured ribbon to the handle, or add in a different bloom that isn’t in your girls’ bouquets?
This seems like a no-brainer, but many brides fall into the trap of trying to match their bridesmaids’ bouquets exactly to the colour of the dresses. The problem with overly matchy flowers is that they don’t stand out against the dresses, meaning they’ll get lost in the photographs and won’t do the bouquets any justice. To make them pop, choose flowers a shade lighter or darker than the dresses, or add in blooms in a white or neutral shade.
To really make a statement with your bridesmaid flowers, why not choose a contrasting shade to help them stand out on the big day? This works particularly well with brights – opt for a bold mix of colours or a single standout shade for maximum impact. If you’re not sure where to start, look to the colour wheel for inspiration. For example, a lilac bouquet would look fantastic with sage green bridesmaid dresses.

The trend for mix and match bridesmaid dresses extends to the flowers, too! We love this eclectic look – you could try it with rainbow brights against black or white bridesmaid gowns, or with different pastel shades. You could embrace the ombre trend and choose flowers in different tones of the same colour. We’re also seeing brides choosing bouquets of the same colour, but with different flowers for each bridesmaid. The choice is yours!
Single bloom bouquets are ideal for the bride who loves clean, sleek lines – a few stems of calla lillies or orchids can make a real statement. They’re also fantastic for brides on a tight budget, as it means you can order your flowers in bulk and DIY them if you choose! Budget blooms that still pack a pretty punch include gypsophila and hydrangeas.
If your bridesmaids aren’t fans of bouquets (or they’re hayfever prone!), then there’s no need to give them flowers at all! There are a ton of beautiful alternatives on the market, from paper flowers to buttons and brooches. Other ideas we’ve seen include pretty wrist corsages, lanterns, and fans.
