I absolutely love Christmas weddings and when it comes to Christmas wedding decorations, there are just so many gorgeous options, it’s hard to know what to choose! I’ve gathered together some of my favourite Christmas wedding table decorations for you here and I have to say, I feel a little bit like Santa bringing presents right now! It really isn’t that long ago when Christmas wedding decorations were all reds and golds or silvers and icy blues. There was a definite feeling that the wedding was just an extension of the holidays and whilst that’s not a bad thing, it was tough to do anything other than ‘traditional Christmas’ with your wedding styling.

Now, things are so different and oh my goodness, it’s all just so beautiful. There are a huge variety of colour palettes, table centre pieces, accessories and even table shapes and sizes available and it’s fabulous to see couples embracing Christmas in their own way.

If you’re planning your Christmas wedding table decorations, here are the essentials that you need to consider, whatever your colour scheme:

• Candles. Really, a Christmas wedding just has to have candles. Whether you opt for tall, church or pillar candles, the beautifully soft and romantic light that candles create really is very special indeed.
• Greenery. Not only is foliage so on trend in the wedding world right now, it’s a definite must-have for festive weddings. It’s also super helpful to include plenty of greenery in your Christmas wedding because the cost of flowers can absolutely rocket at this time of year whilst the cost of greenery remains more stable.
• Textures. Using a variety of textures on your tables creates interest and the materials that you use are really important. Mixtures of woods and natural textures gives a more rustic feel while luxurious fabrics provide a sense of elegance.
• Seasonal motifs. I really do love seeing seasonal motifs in winter wedding table decorations. Little golden deer as place card holders, mini stockings holding wedding favours or tiny wreaths securing napkins all instantly relate to the time of year and you just know they’ll make your guests smile.
• Winter wedding table names. Last but not least, why not have some festive fun with your table names? Opt for names that are really going to bring the feel-good factor to your big day.

It’s also super important to keep some more practical points in mind when you’re planning too. Remember to make sure that your Christmas wedding centrepieces don’t get in the way of guests. They either need to be low enough to be seen over or tall enough to not obstruct conversation. If you’re using candles, take along plenty of spares so that you can replace candles and tealights as they burn out. Don’t lose the special atmosphere that you’ll have created!

Lastly, if you plan ahead, you can pick up lots of wedding table accessories in the post-Christmas sales then you’re all prepared for your big day well in advance and you’ll be on budget too. Now that feels like Christmas has come early doesn’t it?
