Decadent Burgundy & Gold Wedding Inspiration

January 22, 2018

Is there a colour palette that’s more perfect for winter weddings than burgundy and gold? It’s rich, warm, luxurious and so adaptable. I am a huge fan of this stunning colour combination and it really is a fantastic wedding theme. Come and get inspired by burgundy and gold…

Before we leap into all the ideas that I’ve got to share with you today, let’s just talk about this colour palette. To get the look that you want, play with the proportions of the burgundy and gold that you use in your day. For a luxe winter look, I’d use more burgundy than gold. If you want more of a party feel to your day, increase the gold and add some glitter. Also, don’t be afraid to add an accent colour – navy blue would be my pick for utter sophistication!

A white or ivory wedding dress will work perfectly with this theme so bring your look to life with your accessories. Burgundy shoes will add that luxurious feel or go for gold if you want to make a real statement. Deep ruby red jewellery would be a fabulous accompaniment or any pieces with golden settings.

Bridesmaids also have the choice of colours and I absolutely LOVE floor length, super stylish gowns for your maids. A skinny gold belt, clutch and accessories will be absolutely ideal too.

When it comes to groom style, burgundy wedding suits are BIG news and you can hire or buy these anywhere right now. Team the suit with a crisp white shirt, smart accessories and a fabulous buttonhole and your groom and groomsmen will be totally wedding ready.

Burgundy and gold wedding decorations

Now’s the time to get really excited because when it comes to your wedding decorations, you’ve just got so much choice. If we start with flowers, big and bold burgundy blooms are definitely the way to go and team them with whites, creams and greenery for a balanced look. Trailing burgundy ribbons are a must for your bouquet and I’d certainly choose a gorgeous oversize bouquet too.

Gold calligraphy on heavyweight burgundy card is a perfect choice for your stationery. For the ultimate in glamour, keep your stationery really simple and let the calligraphy speak for itself. Invitations, escort cards, wedding day stationery and even fun items such as cocktail menus all look fantastic in this style.

For this luxe look, you really need to use fabric. Whether you choose heavyweight fabric to create backdrops or opt for velvet on statement pieces of furniture, bring lots of texture to your big day.

Details to match your colour theme

Perfectly chosen wedding details really bring your day to life. For example, gold cutlery or glasses with golden rims look extra special on your tables. Burgundy ribbon tied around napkins or golden wax seals on burgundy envelopes are just such a great touch.

Your wedding cake can also work with your theme – snowy white icing with golden accents looks simply wonderful and when it’s finished with burgundy flowers, you know you’ve got it just right.
