Classic Ideas for a Breakfast At Tiffany’s Wedding Theme

August 07, 2015

Let’s be honest, I think we’re all a little bit in love with Audrey Hepburn and of her impressive list of films, and Breakfast At Tiffany’s is probably the most well known and it’s certainly inspired weddings, bridal showers and parties aplenty over the decades. I’m using the famous Tiffany Blue as the basis for a sophisticated, elegant wedding that I think Holly Golightly would adore…

Tiffany Blue, or Robin’s Egg Blue if you prefer, looks great with whites and silvers and this combination is a luxurious, fresh palette for your wedding. I would caution against using too much blue however – you don’t want to drench your entire day in such a bold colour if you’re looking for a chic event. Instead, use colour carefully and it will highlight different elements perfectly.

So, with an eye on your wedding outfit, let’s consider how to bring in the blue. Obviously, coloured shoes are a great option or you could choose a delicate blue sash. Bridesmaids could wear a Tiffany Blue gown (with a fabulous Fifties vibe to really work with the movie’s era if you like) or separates with a crisp white top and a blue skirt. If you like the idea of doing something a little different, why not change into a coloured designer dress for your evening reception? Your wedding is definitely a day when having two dresses is allowed!

You’ve got to go glam with your accessories – a traditional strand of pearls or a collar necklace such as Glitzy Secrets' Statement of Pearl Necklace (Sold Out) looks amazing with higher necked gowns and you can be sure you’ll wear this piece again and again. The very appropriately named Classic Icon Clip-On Earrings are perfectly sparkly and are suitably special for your big day. If you’d like to channel a little more movie magic, don’t forget the sleek bun and black sunglasses!

Pure white flowers, especially those that are beautifully full like hydrangeas, would be wonderful for this theme. Some Tiffany Blue silk or satin ribbon tied around the handle of your bouquet will bring in a pop of colour without detracting at all from the gorgeous blooms. Similarly, a pure white flower makes a brilliant buttonhole for the men in the wedding party and you could combine flowers and ribbons to make wrist corsages for women.

Blue isn’t a natural colour for food and drink so definitely use it carefully here – it’s much better to serve treats that guests really want to eat rather than obsessing over colour co-ordination! However, blue macarons and a blue signature cocktail (served from a silver punchbowl of course!) are appetising ways to include a splash of colour in your wedding breakfast.

For your tables and decorations, again plenty of white with touches of blue and flashes of silver will look fabulous but you could also include patterned or coloured details to provide a little contrast. Whatever you do, the look needs to be elegant and well put together. Polished silver cutlery, beautiful crockery and perfectly pressed linens are must-haves for this refined and stylish look.

As Audrey Hepburn herself said ‘elegance is the only beauty that never fades’ so let your wedding look wonderful for years to come with a Tiffany Blue theme.
