Well, be still my wedding dress loving heart! Today’s feature is full of some of the most swoon-worthy gowns you ever did see. Not only are they all absolutely gorgeous, they’re also the very best of the design trend that’s being hailed by those in the know as ‘the new classic’. High street stores are full of off-the-shoulder, Bardot-inspired tops this summer so it’s no surprise that wedding dress designers, with their eyes on the most fashion-forward details, have taken this super romantic and timeless neckline and given it a wedding makeover we can’t ignore.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen a real progression onwards from wedding dress collections that simply contained strapless gowns in satin-esque fabrics. We’ve been treated to sleeves of all lengths, a huge variety of fabrics and much more variation in detail in finish. Now, the development of the off-the-shoulder wedding gown gives us a dreamy, feminine look that combines a slightly revealing yet still incredibly modest look. It’s no wonder that we’re falling for this delightful look.
There are many reasons why I’m a fan of off-the-shoulder wedding dresses and at the top of my list of loves is that designers have all taken the basic neckline and added their own flourishes. I love the draped tulle sleeves of gowns by Saja Wedding for example whilst Stephanie Allin’s appropriately named Bardot dress shows that this neckline can work perfectly with vintage inspired, tea length gowns too.

The off-the-shoulder gown can be as sophisticated or as sexy as you like. Combine a décolletage-baring neckline with a figure hugging dress and mermaid skirt and you’ve got a gown that will show off your curves to perfection. Alternatively, team an off-the-shoulder gown with long laces sleeves and your dress is ready for even the most formal affair.
However, my absolute favourite designs combine metres and metres of ethereal tulles and chiffons. I can’t get enough of those lovely light and layered skirts with sweet off-the-shoulder sleeves. This basic design can be accessorised in any way you like and it’s incredibly flattering on bodies of all shapes.
Off-the-shoulder wedding dresses offer you so many opportunities to express your personality through your choice of gown and they can work with any style of wedding. A rustic, boho day with a laid-back bride or a classically elegant affair in a grand location can all suit an off-the-shoulder dress and, of course, a lightweight, floaty gown would be divine for destination weddings when you can show off your sun-kissed shoulders all day long!
Once you’ve chosen your perfect off-the-shoulder wedding dress, you only need to select your jewellery and there’s more choice than you could ever wish for in the Glitzy Secrets wedding accessories collections but that’s a decision to enjoy on another day!
