A Cherry Blossom Wedding

April 05, 2016

A cherry blossom wedding theme is a wonderful choice if you’re planning a delightful Spring wedding day. Cherry blossoms, the national flower of Japan, are utterly beautiful – they’re delicate, feminine and these pretty blooms perfectly symbolise Spring. It’s also a lovely theme if you want to highlight Japanese-style elements into your day.

Choosing a colour scheme for your special day can help to accentuate the cherry blossom theme and can make sure it all falls together flawlessly. I love the idea of soft pink accents teamed with crisp white or subtle mint tones.

Wedding Attire

Incorporating cherry blossoms into your wedding attire is a lot easier than you think. A blush pink wedding gown will look stunning, but if you’ve always dreamt of a traditional white dress, why not ask your seamstress to weave and sew blooms into your bodice or skirt? Pink blossom-inspired shoes are also a must-have for any girly bride, and are a subtle nod to your pretty wedding theme.

Opt for bridesmaids’ dresses that fit in with your theme. Depending on your chosen colour scheme, different shades of pink, mint or cream will look beautiful on your girls.

Why should the groomsmen miss out on all the fun? Match the men’s ties and buttonholes to the bridesmaids’ dresses for a completely coordinated look. A simple cherry blossom stem will look just right as a buttonhole for your man!

Accessories

Pretty pink bridal accessories will look beautiful and will highlight your cherry blossom theme. A lovely idea is to gift your maids with blossom-inspired jewellery that they can wear on your special day, and can also cherish afterwards. The all new Bridesmaids Collection from Glitzy Secrets has a huge range of gorgeous accessories with delicate dashes of colour that’ll complete your bridesmaids’ look perfectly. If you’ve decided on a white wedding dress, complement your aisle style with a beautiful, pink hair clip – this is especially perfect if you’re wearing your hair in an elegant up-do.

Decorations

If you’re surrounded by beautiful cherry blossom trees at your wedding venue, you’re incredibly lucky and you also won’t need to do much in terms of décor. Cherry blossoms in clear, glass vases will look ultra chic and pink-themed table runners will complement this look perfectly. Hanging paper lanterns will also create a wonderfully ‘cosy’ atmosphere to your wedding theme, and will add a Japanese flair to your day.

Bouquets

Cherry blossoms are unfortunately only available from around January to April, so it’s always worth speaking to your florist beforehand to ask for more information on the blooms. Your bridal bouquet will look breath-taking if mixed with an assortment of other blooms that are full of pink, white and mint green, and will help to give your bouquet some dimension. Cherry blossoms are often best used as ‘accents’ in your bouquet rather than the main flower, but are the perfect option for your maids to carry.

Wedding Cake

You can get seriously creative with the design of your wedding cake, and the options are endless. As the wedding cake is one of the focal points of your wedding day, particularly the reception, you want to make sure it takes your guests’ breath away! To ensure it reflects the theme of your special day, a simple white 3-tier cake decorated with cascading cherry blossoms will look stunning, and they’ll imitate dainty blossoms in the breeze. Alternatively, you could serve a variety of different wedding cakes on a dessert table. I love the thought of lots of smaller wedding cakes in an assortment of pink, white and mint green shades.

Wedding Favours

Wedding favours are often overlooked once the drinks have started pouring, so you want to make them worthwhile. It’s best to provide wedding favours that guests will appreciate and can take home, so why not offer cherry blossom scented candles or soaps? It’ll also be a lovely memory of your wonderful wedding day.

A beautiful cherry blossom wedding theme is extremely easy to create with a little bit of imagination, and will look absolutely dreamy for your Spring wedding!
